Dephazz
April 21st, NDK Hall 1
Style is an elusive quality in life. Everybody wants it, few have it. Most people look for it in the wrong places or try to buy the next best substitute. What one calls Style may be bad taste to somebody else. And while the latter can be discussed and argued about at length, no one can deny that the music of De-Phazz is simply a question of good Style. Nor more, no less.
Dephazz is one of the most interesting and exciting European formations. It was established in 1997 by the German producer Pit Baumgartner. During the years the band included a number of magnificent musicians, each of them giving his or her contribution to the unique sounding of Dephazz. Among the main artists are the vocal Barbara Lahr, the composer Otto Engelhardt; the merit for the wonderful lyrics is often owing Pat Appleton. In fact it is hard to list the names of all performers because the Dephazz project is exclusively open for new guest musicians. This turns the style of the band into an easy recognisable and at the same time makes it always surprising. Jazz, latino, disco, soul, gospel, Cuban rhythms, reggae, trip-hop, drum and bass – we can find all these influences in the music of Dephazz. And this is not all because in addition to marvellous compositions Dephazz are also connected with a provoking vision. Their concerts turn into real shows, including choreography, lighting, special effects and video show. After six released albums and performances all over the world (Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Holland, Canada, Russia, USA, etc.) Dephazz come to Bulgaria for the first time. In Sofia they will perform some of their greatest hits and also pieces from their hot new album “Days Of Twang” which will be released officially on 23 March 2007.
