| Nu Jazz with a 1950s Flavour |
A Dutch singer opens a new vista in contemporary jazz, making a bow to the music of the silver screen and the Post-World War 2 music aesthetics. Caro Emerald had only been known locally from the club scene and as a vocal coach, when she was invited to record the song “Back It Up”, rather mistakenly intended to be a summer hit only. Caro has now recorded her first very successful song, judged by the rave reaction on the internet. The popularity of the recording clearly demonstrated how much the audience craves for this new sound, so at the end of January 2010 we find ourselves with the debut album „Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor” in our hands. Provocative with its musical dare, trend-setting, exuberant and inquisitive, the album not only captures the fascination of the audience and the critics, but also sets an important trend in the jazz music of today. This is how the music of the 1950s would have sounded then, if DJs were around.
“Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor” release date: 28 January 2010.
